Oncology & Cancer Home Care CareGivers

Verified, licensed CareGivers for supportive care during cancer treatment — monitoring side effects, helping with medications, hygiene and nutrition, and keeping your oncology team in the loop.

When oncology home care helps

Supportive home care can ease the days between appointments during chemotherapy, radiation, or recovery — consider a CareGiver visit when:

  • Nausea, fatigue, or mouth sores are making everyday tasks hard to manage alone.
  • The treatment schedule involves several medications that are easy to mix up or miss.
  • Appetite has dropped and meals, fluids, or weight need closer attention.
  • Personal hygiene and skin care have become difficult during a treatment cycle.
  • A family carer needs scheduled respite so someone trained is present.
  • Recovery at home after a hospital stay or a treatment round needs an extra pair of hands.

What an oncology CareGiver does

  • Monitors common side effects and symptoms — nausea, fatigue, fever, pain, and changes in appetite or mood.
  • Supports the medication routine, including anti-nausea and pain medicines on schedule (and injectables where licensed).
  • Helps with hygiene, gentle skin care, and dressing during low-energy days.
  • Encourages eating and drinking, and notes intake, output, and weight in the live care sheet.
  • Checks vital signs such as temperature, pulse, blood pressure, and oxygen saturation.
  • Records observations in the live care sheet so your oncology team and authorised family can follow along.
  • Flags warning signs — such as a fever during chemotherapy — early, so you can contact your clinician.
  • Provides calm company and respite for the family carer during each session.

Honest scope: supportive care, not treatment

SoftCare is a marketplace, not a care provider, and gives no medical advice. CareGivers offer supportive care at home — monitoring, comfort, and help with daily living. They do not administer chemotherapy unless it falls within their individual CareGiver licence. Your cancer treatment plan stays with your oncology team, and any medical decision should be made with a qualified clinician.

Frequently asked questions

Can a SoftCare CareGiver give chemotherapy at home?

Only if administering it falls within that CareGiver's own professional licence. SoftCare focuses on supportive care — symptom monitoring, medication support, hygiene, and nutrition — not chemotherapy administration. Always confirm scope with the CareGiver before booking and with your oncology team.

How do they coordinate with my oncology team?

Every session is recorded in the live care sheet — vitals, symptoms, medications, intake and output, and observations. Patient Premium members ($7.99/month) can export it as PDF or JSON to share with the oncology team, and authorised family in another city can follow along live.

What happens if something goes wrong during a session?

During a session you can tap the SOS button to alert your designated contact and the SoftCare safety team. In a life-threatening emergency, call your local emergency number first.

How are oncology CareGivers verified?

Each CareGiver passes a check of government photo ID, professional licence (number and expiry), and a live selfie, usually reviewed in 24–48 hours. The shield badge confirms identity and licence — it does not certify clinical skill, so chat free with a CareGiver before you book.
